I;m friends with a retired couple in Asheville, too, near Lakeshore Dr. Two miles north of downtown, house intact. No power or water, low battery, but they were able to get a text out and I _think_ can get to a nearby grocery store (tho if it's open/stocked IDK). If I-26 is open they could probably get out to the North, but IDK if there's a path out of the area that way. I'm worried about the no water situation. Power you can survive (in these temperatures). Edit: emergency services: "I-26 going to Tennessee will remain closed for an extended period of time due to the damage.”

I find that best way to know and share what’s going on is the radio station that’s become 24/7 news support: 99.9 FM. They are GREAT. You can tell your dear friends updates from the radio by text. Or call the radio station and you can get someone to help them!
